Why do technical and product skills matter?
Having had experience on both the product and development side, I have learned how to effectively communicate with fellow teammates by empathizing with their needs. As a Product Manager, I learned the importance of understanding the business needs and strategy, how to aim for the most feasible MVP while defining KPIs, and how to communicate effectively with stakeholders and fellow teammates. I also spent a lot of time with the end-users, listening to their needs and turning their ideas into product features. From the development side, I learned how important it is to understand the purpose and vision of a product to be able to build the most effective and optimized product which both delights users and meets their needs. These technical and soft skills strengthen my skills as a designer because I am able to take users wants, align them to the business goals, communicate ideas to product managers and developers, and create designs that are technically feasible and functional.
